The health and safety of our students is always our priority. If your dancer is showing any signs of illness, including but not limited to a fever of 99.6 or above, they are not permitted to attend their dance class or camp.
Antimicrobial Air Filters replaced every 3 months for ideal ventilation. We sanitize everything used by staff, parents and campers between each class and during the camp day, and we have daily professional cleaners.
Make up classes are limited to TWO per dancer per billing cycle during the Main Season and ONE in the Summer Session. Classes are to be made up within the same billing cycle of the missed class. They do not roll over. The make up class does not have to be in the same style of dance, but does need to be in the same age bracket or level.
To attend a make up class you must contact the studio via email at least 1 day in advance between 9AM and 5PM to schedule a make up class. All make up classes are subject to availability and NOT GUARANTEED. If your child is sick, please do not bring them to class. Allow them to get healthier, and contact us via email to schedule a makeup class.
No credits or refunds will be given for missed classes.
Our Main Season of Classes runs September - May and is considered an auto-enroll season. We split this season up into 3 billing cycles, Fall, Winter, & Spring. Each billing cycle can range from 9-15 weeks and will be billed accordingly.
Once you are enrolled in a Main Season class, you will be automatically enrolled and billed for each billing cycle (Fall, Winter, & Spring) until the end of the Main Season. Your card will be automatically charged about a week prior to the first day of the next billing cycle. You must let us know via email at least 2 weeks prior to the next billing cycle if you'd like to drop the class and not be charged.
We do not issue refunds so please enroll with that information. The offering of a future credit for camp is determined on a case by case basis and credits are not given if a child decides they no longer wish to join or if you decide to take a last minute trip. Credits will also not be given if you have notified us less than 5 days prior to the start of camp.
In order to withdraw from camp and be eligible for an extenuating circumstance credit, you must notify us at least 5 days in advance.
We do not issue refunds so please enroll with that information. The offering of future credits for camp or class tuition is determined on a case by case basis and credits are not given if a child decides they no longer wish to pursue dancing.
If you are given a credit due to an extenuating circumstance, that credit will expire one year from the day it was issued, no exceptions.
We do not transfer tuition to our other locations so please be sure you enroll in the correct location.
Sophie Dance has multiple locations, so please make sure you are signing up for the correct one before registering your child. We are not able to accommodate transfers at this time if you sign up for the wrong location.
All Sophie Dance West classes for ages 3-4 and up are parent free! You are free to watch from the outside, but your dancers should enter the dance studio on their own.
All age 2-3 classes are transition classes. ONE parent or guardian is allowed to sit inside the dance studio at the start of the year for moral support, but we always encourage the adults to transition out of the room by Thanksgiving time. If your little one needs a little extra time with you in the room, that's fine, but our goal is definitely to get all adults out of the room before the recital so your dancer can feel confident on the stage by themselves!
Sophie Dance is proud to offer a military discount of 10% on all tuition and boutique items to any dancer with a parent who is active duty or retired. This applies to direct parents only and parent must show ID to receive discount.
Sophie Dance has a zero-tolerance policy for bullying and racism.
We are an environment that holds space exclusively for inspiration, collaboration, kindness, compassion, tolerance, movement and art.
Any incident occurring in the dance studio between clients that is perceived to be racist in nature or as defined below, an act of bullying, will be handled with a two-strike process.
Strike 1 will result in a meeting with both parties to discuss the incident, ensure all sides and feelings are shared, heard and understood and a plan to move forward in tolerance and kindness together in class.
Strike 2: If a second incident involving the same client takes place, the client will be un-enrolled in the dance program and all remaining monies will be returned to the client.
When it is determined that a student, teacher, or staff member has committed a racist act, the person will be provided the opportunity to learn about the impact of their actions prior to the suspension or firing of a team player.
Racism: defined as a system of structuring opportunity and assigning value based on the social interpretation of how one looks (which is what we call “race”), that unfairly disadvantages some individuals and communities, unfairly advantages other individuals and communities, and saps the strength of the whole society through the waste of human resources.
Individual racism: pre-judgment, bias, or discrimination by an individual based on race. This includes both privately held beliefs, conscious and unconscious, and external behaviors and actions towards others
Bullying: seek to harm, intimidate, or coerce (someone perceived as vulnerable)
Sophie Dance welcomes all children to dance class. Sophie Dance is a proud supporter of GLSEN and is an ally to all LGBTQ families and children.
